MARCUS KAGE

Marcus Kage was born and raised in Miami, FL where he gained his love of music at an early age listening to his father playing records in the family's home. Marcus decided to become and pursued becoming a DJ at age 11. Listening to the popular DJs of the mid 80's Marcus tried to recreate the scratches  heard on records and mixes heard on radio. In the late 80's, after honing his skills on belt driven turntables, Marcus picked up his first set of Technics 1200 and was able to surpass the skill level he was currently. His skills were noticed by several Miami acts and teamed up with several including Vicious Funk DJs, Eric Griffin (Never Stop Productions) and rappers J.D.C. (Luke Skyywalker Records) and K'Ponce (Never Stop Productions). After relocating to Dothan, AL in the early 90's, Marcus took his talents to the night clubs. His mixing skills gave him the privileges of having the first on air mix show in the Wiregrass area on a local Urban radio station. While in Dothan, Marcus has been a part of several radio stations to include: Z105.3 (CHR Rhythmic); 105.3 The Zone (CHR); 105.3 The Beat (Urban); Rock 102.5 (Classic Rock); Country 96.9 (Country); WTVY (Country) My 103 (Classic Hits); and 100.5 The Beat (Urban) – both on air talent and behind the scenes. Currently, Marcus is settled into his Program Director's and mid day on air position on Magic 93.1 - WBBK (Urban AC). Aside from radio, Marcus still DJs night clubs and does private functions with his mobile DJ company Creative Vybes Entertainment.

After being involved with radio for 30+ years and making connections with many figures in the Southern Soul industry, Marcus noticed the constant rise in popularity with Southern Soul music, but a lack of mediums to listen to it. In 2022 he decides to create Tha Jook Joint.com to constantly stream Southern Soul music for all to listen to on line.
